For some time till you get more gold, they are good. If you have chance to capture good ship - do it, even if it takes time. So do not waste too much gold into upgrades unless you know, that you are going to keep the ship - even in secondary harbors. Keep in mind that "same" ship can vary in number of the cannons - there are i.e. But if you can get MoW or frigate at the beginning on enemy - it is many times one-shot and enemy is still in water.Īt least brigantine and barquentine have 2 forward and 3 rear cannons - so they are more suited to shoot at pursuer. But it is muscle as it is not very maneuverable and no-go zone is big. MoW has 4 front guns, 2 rear, so it is good to shoot in pursuit of the enemy (rest is 2+2 guns). My fleet-of-war consists of the corvette, frigate and man-o-war now (it replaced other either frigate or galleon). They are well ballanced and many small pirates just flee. I have fleet of 3 galleons (fully upgraded) that do majority of the trade and they are able to hold they own in majority of battles. My biggest ship till now is man-o-war, and it is also biggest ship encountered. I have comment under some guide about ships.
